LONG TIME COMING
It's been some time since I last wrote here. About the only thing new about our gun laws here in Nebraska is that we no longer have to have a concealed-carry permit. Those of us who have one may choose to keep and renew it for traveling to other states which might require one. That's what I'm doing even though I have no out-of-state travel plans.
Another issue I thought I'd cover is Lincoln's relatively new use of flashing yellow arrows for left turn lanes. For those still confused by them, just think of them as a regular round green light. That means you can enter the intersection and wait for oncoming traffic before making your left turn. Don't stop behind the crosswalk waiting your turn or you may not get one in busy traffic. You can't legally enter the intersection once the light turns yellow or red, which means that you and everyone behind you has to wait for at least one more cycle of the light before they can get on their way. I'm not sure why the city didn't just put green lights on the turn lanes as it seems less confusing given that most people know you have to yield to oncoming traffic before making a left turn.
