2016: The End of the United States as We Once Knew It

I don't even know where to begin listing all the things wrong with this country. That being said, it may still be the greatest country in the world; just not nearly as great as it once was or could be.

It seems the only thing that matters anymore is how many likes you got on Facebook, or retweets on Twitter. You used to hear phrases like, "Politics as usual." Well, there is nothing usual about politics these days. It has become like wrestling, nothing more than entertainment, and very poor entertainment at that.

Journalism and the media as a whole is nothing more than advertising disguised as news. The writers can't even follow simple rules of grammar let alone understand or convey the who, what, why, when, where, and how of an event they cover.

Most anyone under 40 has been brainwashed into thinking they are owed a living; an education, a job, a home, healthcare, and all the other things that comprise life are expected rather than earned.

Everyone expects everyone else to like them, or at least pretend to, while they behave like spoiled kids. No one truly cares about anyone else. They care about the attention they can get by pretending to care about others.

Donald Trump appears on his way to winning the Republican nomination despite his third-grade level vocabulary. To be honest, though, there are probably a lot of third graders that have more sense than the average citizen these days. Donald is not alone, either. Not one of the candidates in either party comes across as an intelligent person.

I'm not a religious person, but if there is a God, I hope he (she, it?) strikes down all the current candidates and allows some truly intelligent and dedicated person to be elected. Otherwise, I fear we're beyond hope.
