A black police officer shot and killed an unarmed white youth in broad daylight yesterday afternoon. Neither the victim nor the officer were identified by the also unnamed source who was speaking on condition of anonymity because he/she was not authorized to speak about the incident. Video of the shooting was not released, but it reportedly showed the officer dragging the young student council president from his mother's car, beating him senseless, and then shooting him multiple times while he lay bleeding in the street. Other unnamed sources claimed the officer shouted racial slurs as he beat the defenseless young man. The video was confiscated from a bystander who caught it all on his cell phone camera. News of the shooting prompted hundreds of thousands, perhaps millions, of white people to continue with their daily lives as if nothing had happened. There was no protest, no arson, and no looting. Strangely, it seems whites were willing to let police investigators determine if the shooting was justified and to deal with the officer appropriately. Speculation exists that the reason for the apparent apathy on the part of whites is that not one national news agency reported the incident.
